Here is the latest version and source code for those who are interested.
It has been recompiled for snow leopard and should run fine on all i386 machines.
Hi mobilizer users.
I am very glad that so many people (over 3000) have found this application useful.
I apologise, but I no longer have time to commit to developing a free application.
Please continue to use the application, if anyone would like the code to continue to develop just ask.
Thanks
I have released a small update to 1.3.1
It should fix any known issues, I have heard from users.
the main issue with crashing after sleep should now be fixed, as I have optimised the application, I also tested it over 7 days straight with 23-5 sleeps a day, I didn't get one crash.
I can also say this version runs a'lot quicker as it needs much less resources.
Also those people who tested the beta version, will need to upgrade manually, as the version number in both applications are the same. Although the proper release has been recompiled in leopard.
I released the latest version (1.1) of cocoaConnect yesterday, but there were a few bugs and UI elements I didn't like, also I wanted to change the name to LocationConnect.
Because version 1.1 was written for leopard (but still compatible with tiger) I have been taking advantage of the new UI features of leopard.

Original Version
I have decided to construct a theoretical way of managing a group of mac laptops in a directory environment. Thinking about how I would like to deploy macs in an environment which each user has their own machine, the new features of Mac OSX Leopard is going to make life so much easier.
Lets start at the basics of a PC laptop used in such a manor.
The PC SOE (or machine image) is rolled out by the network administrators. The machine is joined to a directory system, then the machine uses file synchronisation to keep a copy of all your documents which you have changed on the server.
Nearly every organisation these days use some sort of asset tag to keep track of their hardware.
On the PC it is easy to save into the bios so that it can be retrieved later on. This can also be done on the mac using the terminal command nvram. The problem with this is that it is reset whenever a firmware update is applied (which can be regular from software update) or when ever a technician does a PRAM reset (which is a common mac diagnosing practice).
I have release the first version of dmgSplitter
